Day 448 – Grace Kremer

Grace Kremer

Grace Kremmer was the letterer on several issues of Star Wars: Droids and Star Wars: Ewoks.

The letterer is an unsung hero of the comics industry. They rarely get much attention for their work but they add a heck of a lot to your experience of reading comics. Here’s a description of what a letterer does from Wikipedia:

A letterer is a member of a team of comic book creators responsible for drawing the comic book’s text. The letterer’s use of typefaces, calligraphy, letter size, and layout all contribute to the impact of the comic.

Kremer was the letterer for Star Wars: Ewoks issues 1-12 and Star Wars: Droids issues 1-7. Here are a couple of examples of Kremer’s work on Star Wars comics.

Star Wars: Droids #2 – Writer – Dave Manak, Penciler – John Romita, Inkers – Al Williamson & J. D’agostino, Letterer – Grace Kremer, Colorist – George Roussos
