Day 559 – Frog Lady

Frog Lady. Is that her name? No. Will I ever refer to her as anything except Frog Lady? Likely not. I’m not waiting for a name to celebrate Frog Lady on 365 Star Wars because she is mom, wife, and frog goals.

How do you explain Frog Lady to people who haven’t seen the latest episodes of The Mandalorian? Impossible. And why are you reading this if you haven’t??

Frog Lady debuted in Chapter 5 of Season 1 of The Mandalorian. But she only appeared in the background. In Chapter 10 of Season 2 of The Mandalorian, the amazing Pelli Moto introduced Din Djarin, and the audience, to Frog Lady.

Frog Lady’s mission is simple. She needs to get to the moon of Trask to meet up with Frog Man (her beloved) to fertilize eggs she’s carrying around in a backpack-like contraption. Frog Lady has to keep her eggs warm, keep them out of the mouths of The Child, and hop away from a nightmarishly large number of ice spiders of all spiders along the way.

One of the best things about Frog Lady is that she doesn’t take any bullsh*t from Din Djarin when he attempts to go back on his word. Yet Frog Lady is also happy to babysit The Child with no advanced notice.

The incomparable Misty Rosas, who played Kuiil in the first season of The Mandalorian brought Frog Lady to life on-screen. Dee Bradley Baker provided Frog Lady’s frog voice.

If you don’t believe me that Frog Family is one of the best things to happen to Star Wars …ever … I dare you to watch this clip (ok, fine, the music may have been tweaked a bit) and not have emotions. Get to know the crew responsible for this clip here!

Even though Frog Lady has only been in our lives for a couple of weeks there’s already some amazing fan art. Here are just two examples.
